We have received so much rain these passed couple of weeks I have been tempted into thinking the municipality may well consider removing the Level 2 Water Restrictions. Having a closer look at the numbers though, and I doubt we have any reason to start being optimistic. Lets look at the dam levels:
Cape Town dams are 48% full which is 13% lower in comparison to 61% this time last year. If last year saw an increase in the water restriction level with dams at higher levels, what does this summer hold in store for us? I can only continue to advocate the harvesting of rainwater through the installation of rain water tanks now while we still have water coming off our roofs because, as was the catch phrase last summer, “You can only save water if you have water”.
